Year 11 Geography Field Trip to Epping Forest

On Wednesday 6th October, Year 11 geography students were finally able to get out into the field and study the Debden Brook in Epping Forest. This trip had originally been planned for June, but Covid meant that the trip had to be rescheduled. Luckily, we were blessed with good weather.

Students identified the source of a river and discussed how rivers form. The groups then travelled to sites downstream and got into the river to measure how width, depth, velocity and sediment size and shape changed along the course of a river. Potential flood risk at each site was also assessed.

Congratulation to all students who attended this trip who demonstrated that they can effectively apply their geographical knowledge to real places and this fieldwork day will help prepare for the summer examinations.
