Spanish Exchange 2018 – First phase: Finished!
On the 1st February 20 intrepid Bishop Ramsey students huddled together bright and early at Heathrow waiting to set off for the opening leg of the Spanish Exchange.
They were nervous, excited and very much looking forward to spending time in Spain immersed in the language and culture. This year was our first year with a new partner school in Toledo called Divina Pastora, which is a Catholic school very similar in ethos to Bishop Ramsey but who have just celebrated 130 years of teaching! Divina Pastora is in the heart of the historic centre of Toledo and we were fascinated by their old buildings and the amazing view from their terrace. Students enjoyed five fun-filled days in Spain with visits to Toledo’s historic sites, Manchego cheese tasting, Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, Flamenco, Churros and chocolate and lots more! Activities with Spanish families ranged from visits to Segovia to shopping to trips to Madrid to football to making paella and cakes. The Spanish families and teachers welcomed us warmly and were unbelievably hospitable, generous and kind.
We’re very much looking forward to welcoming our Spanish partners to Bishop Ramsey between the 19th and 24th April 2018. A more detailed report and pictures to follow in the next edition of the Recorder. You can also see our updates on Twitter by following @mfl_br where you can see some videos of students talking about their experiences but also check out the Flamenco – which was sooo much fun!
¡Muchísimas gracias a Divina Pastora y a las familias españolas! ¡Hasta luego!
