About Us

Welcome from the Executive Head and CEO

I am delighted and extremely proud to welcome you to Bishop Ramsey School.

At Bishop Ramsey we are proud to be a world class Christian learning community. As a Church of England School we work closely with the Diocese of London and education at Bishop Ramsey is based on our Christian view of the world. Our distinctive aims and values outlined here seek to ensure that every student has the opportunity to develop their individual skills and talents and that they become responsible and caring adults. This was highlighted in our most recent SIAMs inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) which graded Bishop Ramsey as Outstanding in all areas and concluded that “The School’s deeply embedded Christian foundation successfully shapes its life as, ‘a Christian learning community.’ Students are confident, respectful and compassionate young people.

This is an exciting time in the school’s development. In the years since our Ofsted Outstanding grading, the school has continued to strive for improvement. In 2016 Bishop Ramsey became an Ofsted approved SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) Centre, which allows us to recruit and train the very best teachers for Bishop Ramsey and other local schools. In July 2021 we were also reaccredited as a World Class School, one of only a very small number of schools in the country to have achieved this status.

Bishop Ramsey has an excellent reputation for academic excellence underpinned by consistently impressive GCSE and A Level results; a consequence of our relentless commitment and ambition to ensuring that each and every student achieves of their very best. Our success is down to our students’ hard work and pride as members of our the school, our excellent staff, a broad and varied academic curriculum and an educational environment emphasising traditional standards of uniform, discipline and personal responsibility. Our genuine partnership with parents/carers is an important central aspect of how we work.

We see the time that our young people spend at Bishop Ramsey as part of a very important journey of discovery, development and self-awareness and we aim to motivate and inspire our students to set course on the brightest of futures. We view education as a continuum and strive to instil a genuine love of life-long learning in our young people so that they can access excellent opportunities for the next stage in their education, training or careers. Our co-curricular and extra-curricular enrichment provision is extremely important and central to our students’ experience and we are committed to finding and developing everything that is exceptional in each child, enabling them to flourish.

Both staff and students are very proud of all that we do here and we would be delighted to tell you more. Please do look at our website and online prospectus for further details. You are welcome to contact the school office on 01895 639227 if you have any further questions.
