Bishop Ramsey - World Class
World Class Schools Update
9th July 2018 saw Bishop Ramsey re-accredited as a World Class School.
The process was lengthy, taking most of the year, starting in the Autumn term with the team of students providing examples of their ‘world class’ status under various headings. Then came the exchange with Finham Park School. They sent their examples of world class practice to us and we sent ours to them and each student team selected things to see and video at their partner school.
At Finham Park, the BR students were impressed with the resilience shown by the other students, whose buildings are old and in constant need of maintenance, but who adapt to the challenges. Their film studies department was really active and the opportunities for student leadership plentiful. At BR, the Finham students were impressed with the more modern buildings and the enthusiasm of the many students who were interviewed for the video.
The final stage was for each team to edit the video footage (over 8 hours of it!) into a 10 minuite video showing how the other school is world class. Help was co-opted and Philippa, Rachel and Ella were ably assisted by Joseph in Year 12 and Lucy in Year 10.
Videos submitted, it was time to attend the WCS Symposium at Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in Islington. The students experienced a talk from Grayson Perry about being individual and from Kate Nowlan about mental health and wellbeing and have come back to school with lots of ideas from other schools.
Thank you to all the students who took part on the filming. The video Finham Park made of Bishop Ramsey can be found here:
Thank you too, to Lucy and Joseph, for helping in the long process of editing the video and of course, to our world class student team of Philippa, Ella and Rachel, who saw the whole thing through from beginning to end.
