  • Lent Appeal Week 19th-23rd March

A big thank you to everyone for supporting our annual Lent Appeal. A total of £2,320 was raised during the week to support our Lent Appeal charities, Sport Relief and Malosa School, Malawi.

Each day during lunchtime all students were invited to get involved in some fun challenges. These included an egg and spoon race, a space hopper race, a football challenge and a ping pong challenge.

Other fund raising events that took place during the week included themed fancy dress, raffles,

sponsored bike rides, sponsored silence, penalty shoot outs, cake sales, guess the number of sweets/name of the teddy bear.  A special thank you to the parents who baked some delicious cakes and biscuits and for sponsoring or collecting sponsors for their children.

On Friday 23rd April the week ended with a flourish as students came into school in fancy dress. The wonderful costumes on display were a testament to their imagination, creativity and ingenuity.  All students, supported by staff, took part in the Sport Relief Mile. It was a glorious sunny day with everyone outside in the fresh air, having fun and doing exercise. Some ran to the finish line while others jogged, walked or staggered there as a result of being tied to others. All finishers were rewarded with a medal that was kindly donated by Sport Relief. Thanks to the PE Department for organising this event.

The day ended with a Staff v Sixth Form football match which amazingly the staff won 4-1. The Sixth Formers had a good first half but ran out of steam in the second half.

We had a lot of fun during the week and have done some good. The money raised will make a difference to people living incredibly tough lives both in the UK and Malawi.

  • Spring Awakening

Music from Mozart to Adele was performed at this year’s annual Spring Soiree held on 22nd March.

The musical evening involved over 100 students who together with staff entertained an appreciative audience. The school’s orchestras, bands and choirs all participated and the evening incorporated a mixture of traditional and modern music with an echo of movie music throughout the evening.

The superb Concert Band opened this year’s concert with the rousing “Fanfare to Joy”, an arrangement of Beethoven’s famous theme by Michael Story. In contrast their second piece was Louis Primas’ “Sing Sing Sing” originally written in 1936 but more familiar today for its use in the Oscar winning film “The Artist”. Jonathan Knapp and Aaron Walker were the excellent soloists.

  • BISHOP RAMSEY WIN SILVER MEDAL AT BOOK AWARDS

In this Olympic year Bishop Ramsey have won a silver medal but in this instance for reading and presentation. Members of Bishop Ramsey Library Book Club won the medal at The Hillingdon Secondary School Book of The Year, beating competition from 17 other schools.

The annual event took place on Thursday 8th March. The format of the event is Hillingdon librarian’s shortlist six books suitable for 11 – 12 year olds and these are read by students across the borough between September and February (a challenging task for some members as the books are not thin). Pupils then vote for their favourite and at the competition do a short presentation about it, together with a table top exhibition. A judging panel then choses the best presentations.
