Careers Fair at Bishop Ramsey a huge success

    Bishop Ramsey Careers Fair 2013

Bishop Ramsey School held a very successful Year 9 - 13 Careers Fair on Wednesday 13th November 2013.

The Fair offered students and parents the chance to meet a wide range of employers and organisations and consider their options for the future.  The fair was spread over the Atrium, the Hall and the Hub and featured exhibitors representing a range of fields, including law, education, finance, charity, science, engineering, advertising, marketing, politics, leisure, security, as well as the Arts.  Further study and training was represented by a plethora of universities including Royal Holloway, and Kings College, Cambridge, and Voluntary Work Overseas and the British Exploring Society gave advice on what to do in your year off.  For those requiring advice on seeking employment Careers and CV advice was on offer from the Bishop Ramsey Careers Advisor and Notgoingtouni.

Students, parents and staff were able to visit a wide range of stands and talk to stall holders and to particularly visit those areas not known to them including UCL Forensics Department, the Civil Service, Preng and Associates and Bloomberg.  Healthcare specialists and the armed forces proved to be especially popular.

In addition there was a programme of presentations throughout the event where employers spoke about career opportunities in their sector as well as talks giving advice on apprenticeships and Higher Education.

The Chef Master Class by Balans was admired by those interested in the Hospitality industry and throughout the evening Philip Jones of Kiwi Carpentry, a master carpenter from New Zealand, demonstrated some tricks of the trade, inspiring students and adults alike.

This busy event gave students the opportunity to think about life beyond school and help make important decisions about their future.  It opened new horizons in different areas, inspiring possible different career pathways.  Thank you to the organisers Mr Hall, Mrs Moore and Mrs Clarke and the many parents, students and exhibitors who attended.  And finally, a huge thank you to The Friends of Bishop Ramsey, who sponsored the event.
