The achievements of eleven Bishop Ramsey students from Year 9 were celebrated at an awards ceremony in July.  In addition to individual awards all eleven students achieved the Level 1 Prince’s Trust Award in Personal Development & Teamwork Skills after attending Uxbridge College one day a week for the past year taking part in a KS3 Engagement Programme.

Eleven Year 9 students have spent the year representing Bishop Ramsey on a KS3 Engagement Programme every Thursday at Uxbridge College.

The programme is attended by six schools across Hillingdon Borough.  The Programme consists of a carousel of vocational courses: Motor Vehicles, Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care, Catering, Sport and Business. Every half term students study one of the 6 courses in their morning session and during the afternoon they complete a portfolio to support the underpinning knowledge for the Prince’s Trust Award.  All eleven BR students achieved the Level 1 Prince’s Trust Award in Personal Development & Teamwork Skills.  Mr Marjanov, an LSA at BR attends college every week with the students and his continued support and encouragement has allowed the students to grow with their academic and personal development.

Thursday 11th July was a good day for Bishop Ramsey. Mrs Duckett, Mrs Hunt and Mr Marjanov attended an awards ceremony to celebrate the successes of the students who have followed this programme.  Six students delivered speeches during the ceremony, and all of them were BR students!  Kristy Hennessy, Sophie Sproate, Callum Portugal-Walker, Pierce O’Hare and Sophie Gates individually spoke about the vocational sectors that they had studied during the course.  Towards the end of the evening individual awards were presented to students.  BR ‘cleaned up’ at the awards ceremony,  from a total of 35 students on role for the course only 11 achieved attendance awards, all of them BR students;  5 had above 95% attendance and 6 achieved 100%.  In addition 3 students achieved overall ‘Star Awards’, Kristy Hennessey, Paris Davies and Callum Portugal-Walker!

The eleven students who have represented themselves and BR to the highest standards are:  Leah Clevett, Paris Davies, Christopher Evans-Smith, Sophie Gates, Abigail Haggar, Kristy Hennessey, Georgia Kemp, Amelia Nazari, Pierce O’Hare, Callum Portugal-Walker, and Sophie Sproate.
